About Us: The Intelligence Behind the Bar
The Setting: The Briefing Room stands on the historic grounds of Fort Ritchie, once home to the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Training Center during World War II. Thousands of service members trained here for intelligence work that depended on language, observation, and judgment rather than force. The work done at Fort Ritchie relied not on rank, but on skill, discipline, and trust—qualities we aim to reflect in every detail of the space..
The Atmosphere: Housed in an original “finger building,” our bar is designed to evoke a place of focused thought and careful planning—where nuance mattered and details counted. The room is deliberate and grounded, offering a quiet counterpoint to the world outside and a setting that feels as considered as the history surrounding it.
The Mission: At The Briefing Room, we are not trying to recreate the past or trade in nostalgia. Instead, we draw inspiration from the values that defined the work done here: restraint, precision, and intention. Every drink is prepared with care, every choice made thoughtfully, and every guest welcomed into a space designed for conversation and reflection.
During World War II, Fort Ritchie housed the Military Intelligence Training Center, where the Ritchie Boys—predominantly enlisted service members and noncommissioned officers—were trained in interrogation, translation, and psychological warfare
